A gift to my Popi for Christmas 2017. Little did I know, 4 years later, this very rough draft would be published by Mascot Books.
The cover is one of my favorite tree that overlooks the Bellingham bay. I took this photo on a stroll one day. It's how I imagined what the dream tree looked like.
A simple blank book. We spent the evenings printing, cutting, and ripping out the text to paste onto the pages. A total of 4 books were made of the first edition.
A sneak peek of the rough sketches, drawn by our daughter Katie, introducing the characters and scenery. Patrick and Chauncey, Chauncey, Aunt Kathleen, the treasure in a box, and the city.
Thank you to my husband Marty, daughter Katie, and daughter-in-law Abby for your editing eyes. Thanks to daughter Megan and son Calvin for diving in with the rest of us to assemble and paste this first edition together. I couldn't have done it without you. Thank you to grandson LP for closing your eyes and imagining this story in your mind as you sat next to me while I read my digital draft to you without real pictures. "Yaya, I have my eyes closed so I can see the pictures in my mind." LP - Age 2
I love you all to the moon and back - times infinity!
